I'm Deborah O'Kane from the Kāpiti coast north of Wellington, and I love to travel.
Asia is a magical continent, with enormous variety and rich cultures and histories. After spending three months travelling there in 2024, I realised that I wanted to share the experience with others, and so Our Asia Travels was created.
I decided to start with trips to Taiwan – it's remarkably beautiful, easy to travel around, boasts an amazing street and restaurant food scene, and a truly unique history. And it's easy to get there from New Zealand and Australia. So join me on one of our first tours and see if you agree!
Our Asia Travels take the hassle out of itinerary planning, accommodation, logistics and support. You get to enjoy the scenery, activities, food, and the people you'll meet along the way.
Small group sizes of no more than 8 travellers mean we are light on our feet and can make the most of every day and every destination.
We pride ourselves on taking groups to places we've loved ourselves – but there are always new spots, corners and sights, so join us as we discover an atmospheric coffee shop or hidden temple together.
Getting under the skin of a city by using local transport options and local tour operators – this gives us opportunities to interact with locals, and is often (usually!) a fun, and sustainable, way to travel.
Days that you construct and an itinerary that flexes – Taiwan's weather can be unpredictable, and sometimes you just want to find a cafe and people watch. Our unique trip booklet has a pick'n'mix list of daily activities to choose from, if the itinerary doesn't work for you.
Our accommodation has been selected to be comfortable and convenient rather than deluxe. This helps keep your travel experience affordable, but you'll always have an ensuite bathroom, and breakfast, and be centrally located.
And most importantly, keeping our group size to no more than eight travellers. This means we are light on our feet, getting the most out of each day and easily able to accommodate your special requests. It's a personal trip, with a group of friends – the best of both worlds!
We cater mostly for older age (50+ years) travellers who are open minded, active, curious about the world and resilient.
While the days are not exhausting, you'll probably get your 10,000 steps without too much trouble. You'll also be expected to manage your own luggage, so keeping this to a carry on suitcase, and a small daypack is recommended.
Couples, singles or small groups of friends are welcome, and if you have any special requests or requirements drop us a line and we'll see what we can do.
